What’s remarkable is that Jordan was talking about being underestimated after being universally recognized as not only the greatest basketball player ever, but as one of the greatest athletes of all time.
Jordan was still constructing that perception of being underestimated and using that as motivation to prove others wrong.
Organisational psychologists say that some of the greatest leaders of all times have been fueled with the rage of being understimated, this led them to perfom better.
In several instances, creating some form of underestimation to motivate people was done deliberately and it did work.
