The Johari window is a technique[1] that helps people better understand their relationship with themselves and others. It was created by psychologists Joseph Luft (1916–2014) and Harrington Ingham (1916–1995) in 1955, and is used primarily in self-help groups and corporate settings.

2➡ The second quadrant is referred to as ‘blind’ or ‘blind spot’.

We fail to see a side in us which maybe noticeable to others yet hidden from us.

This is called a blind spot.

The blind spot refers to a character, trait, and behavior. This blind spot may be causing a downfall in our social lives, work etc. So the sooner we find out about ourselves the easier it becomes to make changes in our lives.

    How to Play

The activity, Johari Window is played with peers/colleagues etc.

The participants must write in chits, the character/behavior of the individual who has requested feedback.

The writing should contain only adjectives, such as ex: able, complex, happy, logical, proud, sensible, warm, etc.

The folded chits must be dropped in one of the quadrants.

    ——————-

Is this a great game or what. Its also a fun way to start getting feedback about oneself!?

To be continued 😀 Find out more about the ‘Hidden Area’ in the next article to be published here.
