ORGANISATION POLICIES
These policies are more generic in nature and are applicable to all stakeholders of the company- employees, vendors/suppliers, customers and employer as well. These policies ensure organisation culture is maintained.
For example, Work Timing & Attendance Policy, Code of Conduct Policy – these policies are applicable to all.
DEPARTMENTAL POLICIES
These policies are more specific to a particular department and are applicable only to people associated with the specific department. These policies will adhere to the specific departmental requirements.
For example, Tax Audit Policy, Quality Audit Policy – These policies are applicable only to the Finance Department and Quality Department and are not applicable to all.
Both Organizational & Departmental Policies could be:
- Mandatory (considering the core business), or
- Important (considering the overall business), or
- Nice to have (feel-good factor), depending upon the nature of business of any organisation.
Examples:
- Confidentiality Policy is one of the mandatory policies for organisations like ISRO/DRDO, whereas it could be an important policy for startup companies.
- Visitorβs Policy is one of the mandatory policies for Hospitals, whereas it could be an important policy for other organisations like IT Companies etc.
