Hello @Nazim thank you for your requesting for help through the CHRMP Academy forums. Would you please share what specific help you are looking for? Do you need help with understanding the process?

Hey @raksha ,
Thank you for reaching out for advice and guidance to the CHRMP community.
Begin by setting Clear Goals: Begin by setting clear goals for organisation.
Break It Down: Once you’ve got your big-picture goals, break them down into individual objectives.
Choose Your Tools: Decide on how you’ll measure these goals. There are many tools out there – 360-degree feedback, self-evaluations, or manager assessments.
Give Feedback: Regular check-ins are crucial. Think of them as stopping points along your treasure hunt where you can reassess your map, make sure everyone is healthy, and adjust the sails if needed.
Nurture and Grow: Identify gaps and areas the employees can grow. Offer training, workshops, or mentoring to help them polish their skills.
What was missing: When goals are met, celebrate! And when they’re not, gather around, discuss what went wrong, and how you can avoid those storms in the future.
Keep Evolving: Your startup will grow and change, and so should your appraisal system. Regularly review and tweak it to ensure it remains relevant. It’s like updating your treasure map based on the new landscapes you discover.
For the nitty-gritty, such as setting performance benchmarks and offering support to bridge performance gaps, there are many tools and recorded sessions. It suggests a structured approach involving planning, monitoring, developing, and rewarding efforts towards organizational goals.
Would love to hear how others are navigating this journey. Any tools or practices that have been a game-changer for your startup?

MemberSeptember 17, 2023 at 9:50 AM in reply to: Employee Medical Expense Challenge: Seeking the right solutionHello @shraddhasingh
Thank you for sharing this real-life HR challenge. It’s a situation that many organizations may encounter, and addressing it appropriately is crucial. I think you have already received the guidance.
In this case, considering the employee’s genuine lack of awareness about the policy change and the medical exigency, it’s important to balance compassion with fairness and consistency.
Here are some steps you might consider:
1. **Review the Policy:**
First, ensure that the policy documents clearly outline the transition from ESI to GMC and the associated coverage limits. Verify that the policy information was indeed available in the employee self-service portal.
2. **Communication:**
If it’s found that the policy information was accessible, use this as an opportunity to improve communication within the organization.
REINFORCE the importance of employees actively reviewing policy changes during transitions and regularly accessing the self-service portal for policy updates.
3. **Assisting the current Employee:** While upholding the policy, consider offering some assistance to the employee as an exception in this case, given their genuine lack of awareness. However, make it clear that this is a one-time exception due to the unique circumstances. Emphasize that in the future, all employees are responsible for understanding their coverage. And NO ONE is to receive the benefits more than as per their eligibility.
4. **Policy Reinforcement:** Use this incident as an opportunity to reinforce the policy and communication procedures. Conduct sessions or workshops to educate employees about their benefits and policies during transitions.
5. **Monitor and Prevent Misuse:** To prevent potential misuse by other employees, closely monitor similar situations. Implement checks to ensure that employees are informed about policy changes and their responsibilities.
By addressing this case with a balanced approach, you can assist the employee in need while reinforcing the importance of policy awareness. It also allows the organization to maintain fairness and consistency in benefits administration.
Thank you for sharing this valuable real-world scenario, and I encourage other HR professionals in our community to share their insights and experiences on how they would handle such situations.
I believe everyone else’s input are along similar lines. I want everyone to contribute so that we have maximum input and you get to choose the best answer @shraddhasingh what do you think?

Hello, That’s an interesting and important question you’ve raised. The policy regarding the accumulation and utilization of earned leaves, casual leaves (CL), and sick leaves (SL) can vary from company to company and is often influenced by legal regulations. Generally, earned leaves, CL, and SL are considered part of an employee’s compensation and entitlement, so altering these policies requires careful consideration
Some insights I can offer are:
Accumulation and Utilization Policies: Companies typically have policies in place for the accumulation and utilization of leaves. These policies often outline how leaves are accrued, when they can be used, and any conditions for their utilization.
Post-Resignation Leave Payout: In many cases, companies allow employees to encash or be paid for accumulated leaves upon resignation. The treatment of this depends on company policy and local labor laws.
No Accumulation during Notice Period: Some companies restrict leave accumulation during an employee’s notice period to ensure a smooth transition. However, this approach should be communicated clearly in the company’s leave policy.
Legal Considerations: It’s important to consider relevant labor laws and regulations in your jurisdiction. Some countries have specific rules about leave entitlements, accruals, and encashment.
Employee Communication: Whatever policy is decided, clear communication with employees is crucial. They should be aware of how their leave entitlements will be affected.
Balancing Employee Rights and Business Needs: While it’s understandable that companies want to manage leave liabilities, it’s equally important to ensure that employees’ rights and entitlements are respected.
Remember, any changes to leave policies should be communicated transparently to employees, and their concerns should be addressed to maintain a positive work environment.
Let’s hear from others on this platform. What are your views?

Hello @nadja-firdus-kresozira-com-ba ! Of course, I’d be happy to explain how to assess competencies and how they can be used in performance evaluation.
Assessing Competencies:
-
Identify Relevant Competencies: First, determine the key competencies that are essential for success in a particular job or role. These could include technical skills, soft skills, behavioral attributes, and specific knowledge areas.
-
Choose Assessment Methods: Select appropriate assessment methods to evaluate each competency. Common methods include self-assessments, manager evaluations, peer reviews, behavioral interviews, 360-degree feedback, and performance observations.
-
Create Rating Scales: Develop rating scales or rubrics for each competency, indicating different levels of proficiency or performance. This helps in quantifying and comparing an individual’s competency levels.
-
Collect Evidence: Gather evidence of an individual’s competency in various ways, such as through work samples, project outcomes, reports, or direct observations. This evidence helps in making the evaluation process more objective and data-driven.
-
Evaluate Competencies: Use the chosen assessment methods and rating scales to assess an individual’s competencies. Analyze the collected evidence and rate their performance for each competency.
Using Competencies in Performance Evaluation:
-
Goal Alignment: Link competencies to performance goals and objectives. This ensures that the individual’s development aligns with the organization’s strategic priorities.
-
Performance Reviews: Incorporate competency assessments into regular performance reviews. Discuss strengths and areas for improvement in each competency and provide feedback accordingly.
-
Personal Development Plans: Use competency assessments to create personalized development plans for employees. This allows them to focus on enhancing specific skills and behaviors.
-
Training and Development: Identify skill gaps through competency assessments and offer targeted training and development programs to address these gaps.
-
Career Advancement: Consider competencies when making promotion decisions. Individuals with higher levels of competence in relevant areas are more likely to be considered for advancement.
-
Performance Recognition: Recognize and reward employees who demonstrate exceptional competency levels. Acknowledging their efforts motivates further growth and performance.
-
Feedback and Coaching: Use competency assessments as a basis for providing feedback and coaching. Highlight areas of improvement and offer guidance for continued development.
By assessing competencies and incorporating them into performance evaluation, organizations can effectively support employee growth, align individual performance with organizational goals, and create a culture of continuous learning and improvement.

In the world of Human Resources, job evaluation is an indispensable process used to determine the relative worth of different jobs within an organization. Think of it as a meticulous examination of the unique contributions and responsibilities of each role.
During job evaluation, we assess various factors, such as skills, knowledge, responsibilities, decision-making authority, and working conditions, to establish a comprehensive view of each position’s value. This thorough evaluation helps us establish a structured and consistent framework for compensation, benefits, and career progression.
- Choose a suitable job evaluation method, such as Point Factor Method, Job Classification, or Factor Comparison.
- Form an evaluation committee comprising HR professionals and subject matter experts.
- Gather comprehensive job information, including detailed job descriptions and qualifications.
- Analyze each job to understand its unique requirements and contributions.
- Assign point values to factors based on their relative importance.
- Evaluate jobs using the chosen method to determine their overall worth.
- Group similar jobs with comparable point values into grades or levels.
- Develop a fair and competitive salary structure based on the evaluation results.
- Communicate the job evaluation results and new salary structure to employees.
- Regularly review and update the evaluation process to adapt to changing organizational needs and industry trends.
Hope that clarifies!
We currently don’t have a detailed course on job evaluation. But you can visit Point Plan Method under the Compensation planning module to get some basic understanding.

Hi @ritzi ,
Starting your career in HRBP after completing your BBA and MBA in HR is a great choice!
To begin your HRBP journey, here are a few steps you can take:
-
Gain Practical Experience: Look for entry-level HR roles such as HR Assistant, HR Coordinator, or HR Generalist positions. These roles provide a strong foundation in HR operations and allow you to develop the necessary skills and knowledge.
-
Seek HRBP Exposure: While in an entry-level HR role, aim to work closely with HRBPs or HR business leaders within your organization. This exposure will help you understand the HRBP function, its responsibilities, and its strategic alignment with business objectives.
-
Expand Your Skill Set: Take advantage of learning opportunities, both formal and informal, to enhance your HRBP skills. This can include participating in relevant training programs, attending HR conferences, and staying updated on industry trends and best practices.
-
Develop Business Acumen: HRBPs are expected to have a strong understanding of the organization’s business objectives, industry dynamics, and financial aspects. Take the initiative to learn about your organization’s business operations, key performance indicators, and strategic initiatives.
Hope that helps you to get some clarity in taking further steps. All the best in your journey.

Hello Suchismita,
Thank you for sharing your insights and experiences on this topic. Your explanation regarding the practice of stopping leave accumulation upon an employee’s resignation and the consideration of leaves as LOP or LWD extension is valuable. It’s interesting to note that this approach is often adopted to manage leave encashments effectively and aligns with the non-encashable nature of PL/EL when not utilized.
Your contribution to this discussion provides clarity and sheds light on the practical considerations that companies often face in terms of leave policies. If anyone else would like to share their experiences or perspectives on this matter, please feel free to join the conversation.
Thank you once again, Suchismita, for your insightful input!
